EGC Enterprises, Incorp., the leader in developing high technology sealing solutions for extreme conditions using ThermaFoil® flexible graphite, introduces ThermaShield™ EMI/RFI shielding and gasketing products. Working closely with NASA and aircraft manufacturers, EGC has used the excellent electrical conductivity of ThermaFoil® to develop thin, lightweight thermoelectric de-icing systems. The same material properties that make ThermaFoil® a superb heater and resilient seal, combine to create extremely effective EMI/RFI shields and gaskets.

EMI/RFI shielding effectiveness increases as you increase the conductive surface area of the shield. ThermaFoil® issheet material comprised of exfoliated graphite flakes that has been compressed (without binding agents) to form a matrix of aligned graphite layers with a large specific surface area. The electrical conductivity of ThermaFoil® is also quite high with resistivity of about 1 to 8 x 10-4 ohm-in. This highly conductive, large specific surface area provides shielding effectiveness as high as 130 dB. In addition, ThermaShield™ products are compressible, resilient and capable of sealing fluids, chemicals or air at temperatures over 1000°C and pressures in excess of 2000 PSI


ThermaShield™ Effectiveness

The EMI effectiveness of ThermaShield™ in comparison to other materials at 1 - 2 Ghz is illustrated in the table¹ below. Testing was completed using the coaxial method.
